As the people’s museum, we believe in the empowerment of the young and are committed to inspiring young and curious minds through art. To further spread the imaginative power of art to more children, we have collaborated with our friends from The Groninger Museum (Netherlands) and Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Germany) to bring the spirit of Gallery Children’s Biennale around the globe!

The Groninger Museum launched the Dutch premiere of Children's Biennale — KINDERBIËNNALE in June 2021. This was realised in collaboration with National Gallery Singapore, and features three artworks from Gallery Children's Biennale 2019. Inspired by the theme "Landscapes of Wonder," the KINDERBIËNNALE transformed 11 rooms into an immersive experience filled with interactive art by international and local artists. The exhibition was co-curated with children from Groningen, encouraging an exchange of learning and sharing, as well as open dialogue between the museum and its audience.

Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD) launched the second edition of Children’s Biennale – Kinderbiennale in Sep 2021, focusing on the theme of people in their natural environments.

SKD collaborated with National Gallery Singapore in 2018 to organise Europe’s first Children’s Biennale – Kinderbiennale. This partnership resulted in the commissioning of works by five artists from our first and second editions in 2017 and 2019 respectively. This marked the start of a five-year partnership to explore other possible avenues for collaboration in the exhibition and programming space.
